This is a sociology presentation (work in progress) about a county government in State of Colorado, U.S., that incited a barrage of blatant racist & threatening replies from a number of accounts on a social media platform. There were replies to the sheriff's post that were already tagged as inappropriate, whether because of filtering or from being reported, I'm not sure. There were replies to those post reply comments too, but I didn't check the secondary level replies. The original is here: Weld County Sheriff on X: '***WCSO PRESS RELEASE*** Weld County Sheriff warning; inmate due to be released is a potential danger to the community [Weld County] Content Warning the videos in this press release may be disturbing to some viewers as they depict acts of violence. Both video clips were edited.)

This website is to display screencaptures of social media post made by Weld County, CO Sheriff which was racist in nature since a Black man was identified and purpose was to notify public of his release from local jail when there was no law requiring the department to do so. It was intended as "public service" but unprecedented and included video that was prejudicial (identity unverified) by sheriff's own admittance.

Only about a week prior, a man who is facing trial for uxoricide was released on bond in a different Colorado county (Alamosa County) and there was no public service announcement regarding him. That man is potentially dangerous to the community as well, but he's white and wealthy.

In the replies there were people insisting that there must've been a way to hold the man and actually the sheriff was implying the man has a mental health issue, he was "incompetent to stand trial" and because they had no authority to hold him then they had to release him. The sheriff does not mention whether or not the department requested a psych evaluation to enable a mental health hold (C.R.S. 27-65-106), although technically releasing that information could violate HIPAA (medical confidentiality) laws.

The videos are of a man pummeling two other men, but out of context. The first clip is a street brawl with a number of participants. On both occasions he could've been outnumbered if he relented. He has right to defend himself and wasn't wielding a weapon. On both occasions the fights were in open areas, outside. The sheriff admitted he couldn't charge the man and released the "public service message" instead (I reiterate here) and the responses were overwhelmingly racist and many normally wouldn't be allowed by TOS of platform.

***WCSO PRESS RELEASE***

Weld County Sheriff warning; inmate due to be released is a potential danger to the community

[Weld County] Content Warning the videos in this press release may be disturbing to some viewers as they depict acts of violence. Both video clips were edited to redact personal identifiable features and information.

isa E, 21, will be released from the Weld County jail today per Colorado statute. Competency was raised in two of his criminal cases, and the courts found in July of this year his competency could not be restored, and therefore he would not be able to stand trial.

(He) was arrested on April 5, 2025 by the Greeley Police Department on suspicion of: - CRIMINAL ATTEMPT TO COMMIT (2ND DEG. MURDER)-Felony - 1ST DEG. ASSAULT – Serious Bodily Injury-Felony - ENGAGING IN A RIOT-Misdemeanor

The Greeley Police Department issued another arrest for a separate case on April 23, 2025 while he was still in-custody at the Weld County jail. These charges alleged: - MENACING-FELONY-AGG- NON-FAMILY – WEAPON-FELONY - 1ST DEG BURGLARY - NO FORCE ENTRY – RESIDENCE-FELONY

The first video in this post is believed to have occurred in the Fort Collins area a few weeks prior to the second video, which allegedly happened in Greeley.

Although the videos in this post could not be authenticated, they were found on social media and given to law enforcement by one of the victim’s family members in the Greeley Police Dept’s case.

"The state legislature and the Governor have continued to weaken the criminal justice system by handcuffing law enforcement, prosecutors and judges for the sake of criminals. Colorado HB24-1034 has created a crisis where very dangerous individuals are being released to the street to reoffend over and over, this is the latest example. I pray this individual doesn’t hurt another innocent victim but the public deserves to know of his past violent actions so they can protect themselves accordingly. God help this State," said, Weld County Sheriff, Steve Reams.

The law that was enacted in June 2024 which was from the House Bill the sheriff referred to has provisions which includes the wording:
"(1.6)Mandatory dismissal.
(a) If the final determination made pursuant to section 16-8.5-103 is that the defendant is incompetent to proceed and if a defendant's highest charged offense is a class 2 misdemeanor, a petty offense, a drug misdemeanor, or a traffic offense, the court shall dismiss the charges against the defendant unless the district attorney objects prior to the entry of the order to dismiss and makes a prima facie showing that the defendant is a danger to the defendant's self or others or is gravely disabled and there is a reasonable belief that the defendant will be certified for treatment and receive the necessary services pursuant to article 65 of title 27.": Colorado Revised Statutes Section 16-8.5-111 (2024) - Procedure after determination of competency or incompetency :: 2024 Colorado Revised Statutes :: U.S. Codes and Statutes :: U.S. Law :: Justia

The House Bill he was referring to was signed into law on 04 Jun 2024, Bill tracking in Colorado - HB 24-1034 (2024A legislative session) - FastDemocracy, but that wasn't mentioned:

Below is a clip from a film, "The Skeleton Key" (2005), and is significant because it reveals the hypocrisy of racist white people who masquerade as Christian. In the movie the servants are depicted as being malicious by planning to use the children as "hosts" for their spirits, and were performing a hoodoo ritual. Of course reality is that the servants were merely entertaining the children somewhere out of the way of the drunken, revelling adults by putting on a little theatrical show. ← I'm not being sarcastic in that and it's an example of a difference with the Society of Friends (or "Quakers") religion, where we consider what is pragmatic, or reality, even from skeptic's perspective. In the movie it's explained that a person has to believe in hoodoo magic in order for it to work and that's example of what is meant by pragmatic. The principles of Christian people should be evident in their actions. Participating in a social media group that's gov't law enforcement in nature and being outright racist isn't Christian. It's opposite, so it's evil.

Subject: Housing Discrimination Complaint Inquiry — Termination of Contact
HUD Inquiry Number: 761239

Dear Scott H

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUUD) administratively enforces the Fair Housing Act (the Act), 42 U.S.C. §3601, et seq., as amended. The Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, because of race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), familial status, national origin, and disability. On February 5, 2024, our office received the above referenced inquiry you submitted online alleging housing discrimination.

It has come to my immediate attention that you may have engaged in cyberstalking activities related to a member of our staff. While the matter has been referred to Federal Protective Service for investigation, the safety of our employees is of the utmost importance to HUD and our office will take every reasonable precaution in these situations. Your inquiry has been closed and our office is terminating contact with you as of the date of this letter. This decision is final, and HUD will no longer respond to your correspondence or telephone calls about this matter.

You may consult with a private attorney to ascertain any other right of action you may have under federal, state or local laws. Notwithstanding this termination of contact, you have the right to pursue a civil action in an appropriate U.S. district court or state court no later than two (2) years after the occurrence or the termination of an alleged discriminatory housing practice.

Sincerely,

James Whiteside

Northglenn, CO 80260

Dear Scott ...:

We have reviewed your request and supporting documentation for a determination of eligibility for burial in a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) national cemetery in advance of need. We find that, as of the date of this letter, you are eligible for burial in a VA national cemetery.

Eligibility criteria for burial in a VA national cemetery are stated in section 2402 of Title 38 United States Code (U.S.C.), Persons eligible for interment in national cemeteries. This finding of pre-need burial eligibility does not reserve or guarantee a gravesite in a particular VA national cemetery. Burial benefits in a VA national cemetery include opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, and a government-furnished headstone or marker, at no cost to your family.

VA will save your pre-need claim form, supporting documentation, and this decision letter in a recallable system to expedite your burial arrangements at your time of need. We encourage you to retain this information along with your other important papers. We also encourage you to discuss your burial wishes and arrangements with your family members or authorized representatives. At your time of death, should your family or personal representative request burial in a VA national cemetery, VA will confirm this finding of pre-need eligibility based on the laws in effect at that time.

I hope this information is helpful in planning for your future burial needs. Thank you for your interest in our VA national cemeteries.

Sincerely Yours,

National Cemetery Scheduling Office Director

"We want and are entitled to the basic rights and opportunities of American citizens: The right to earn a living at work for which we are fitted by training and ability; equal opportunities in education, health, recreation, and similar public services; the right to vote; equality before the law; some of the same courtesy and good manners that we ourselves bring to all human relations."
~ (Dr.) Martin Luther King, Jr. from August 6, 1946 letter to editor of Atlanta newspaper.

The biggest danger to our rights today is not from government acting against the will of the majority
but from government which has become the mere instrument of this majority...
Wrong will be done as much by an all-powerful people as by an all-powerful prince.

Class conflict is another concept which upsets the oppressors, since they do not wish to consider themselves an oppressive class. Unable to deny, try as they may, the existence of social classes, they preach the need for understanding and harmony between those who buy and those who are obliged to sell their labor. However, the unconcealable antagonism which exists between the two classes makes this "harmony" impossible. ~ Paulo Freire
